Father James Morgan

Associate Pastor

“I’m on a mission from God!”  These words from the movie, The Blues Brothers, and the apprehension of Jesus when He returned to Nazareth for the first time since the beginning of His ministry are what come to mind as I begin my tenure as your new Associate Pastor.

Nevertheless, I am grateful to God for bringing me to Aberdeen and I come with the open arms of a priest who desires nothing more than to help you grow in your faith and knowledge of our Triune God; a priest who desires nothing more than to bring the healing presence of Our Lord, Jesus Christ to you.

You may or may not remember me.  Born and raised in Ipswich, I was the Director of Public Relations and later the Alumni Director at Presentation College for 12 years.  When I left PC in 1996, it was to discern a calling to the priesthood.  Some eight years later…Here I am…and loving it!

For the past two years I was the Associate Pastor at Holy Spirit Parish in Sioux Falls.  I studied my theology at the North American College in Rome, and studied philosophy at St. Thomas University in St. Paul.  During my deaconate summer, I was in residence for eight weeks at St. Mary’s across the tracks.

Keeping busy in my new duties will not be a problem.  I also have the daunting task of being the Newman Center chaplain at NSU as well, and it is there that I will take up residence.  Lumping these two ministries together will require some patience and generosity on your part.  I’m up for the challenge…but it will take prayer from the both of us to make this work.  Thanks to Fr. Terry for having me, I look forward to working closely with him.  And thanks to you for your faith and trust in God and His church and our bishop.  God bless you always!!

  Fr. James P. Morgan
